Transit Accessibility Advisory Committee

Transportation Accessibility Advisory Committee

Nassau County and Transdev are committed to ensuring that riders and other stakeholders have a voice in their bus and paratransit systems. To make that possible, Transdev will invite diverse members of the Long Island community to play a direct, ongoing role in improving the system and making it more responsive to the needs of its customers.

In the coming months, we plan to meet with the current advisory board (Accessibility Transportation Oversight Committee) which deals with both bus and paratransit issues, with a primary focus on paratransit issues. We will share with them our plans to organize a 12-member Customer Advisory Committee for bus issues and a separate similarly sized Accessibility Advisory Committee dedicated to paratransit issues and issues facing the disability community in riding on buses.

We hope to continue tradition of the current Accessibility Transportation Oversight Committee of having the board comprised of passengers and representatives from a range of stakeholder groups that represent the community. The board members will be independent and will not be associated with either Nassau County or Transdev.

We expect that both boards will begin meeting in the first few months of 2012 and to hold regularly scheduled public meetings.

We invite you to return to this page in the months ahead to learn more about the both committees. In the meantime, if you think you may be interested in serving on the board, we invite you to provide information about yourself and email it to : latoya.pippins@transdev.com.

We will continue to update information about both boards in the months ahead - please check back to this website and this page for more information.
